Debt Recovery Specialist (French & Spanish Desk)
In this role, you will play a key part in managing outstanding receivables for companies operating in cross-border markets.
Are you a driven (beginner/experienced) Debt Recovery Specialist with a talent for resolving complex receivables and working across borders? We are looking for a motivated colleague to strengthen our French and Spanish Desk, supporting international clients from either our Amsterdam or Barcelona office.
In this role, you will play a key part in managing outstanding receivables for companies operating in cross-border markets. You thrive in a results-oriented environment, communicate with confidence, and enjoy working in a multicultural, international team.
Your Responsibilities
- Take ownership of international debt recovery portfolios.
- Manage the debt collection process for Spanish- and French-speaking clients and debtors, focusing on effective recovery of outstanding receivables while preventing legal escalation.
- Conduct professional negotiations with debtors, arrange payment plans, and ensure compliance with applicable national and international laws and regulations.
- Assess case files for legal feasibility and recovery options, identifying disputes in a timely manner.
- Maintain close contact with clients and coordinate with internal legal teams and external partners in Spanish- and French-speaking jurisdictions.
- Independently manage a portfolio of cases of average complexity, weighing risks and interests within established processes and delivering careful, solution-oriented outcomes.
- Support colleagues when needed, sharing best practices and practical knowledge.
Your Profile
- HBO / Bachelor or WO / Master level education, preferably in law, business law, or a comparable field relevant to debt recovery.
- 2–5 years of experience in debt recovery, collections, credit control, or a similar international environment in Spanish and/or French law.
- Fluent in Spanish and French, with strong professional proficiency in English (Dutch is an advantage, not a requirement).
- Results-driven and analytical, with a strong focus on cash collection and case ownership.
- Confident communicator and negotiator, able to manage complex debtor and client interactions independently.
- Comfortable working in an international, multicultural team and cross-border setting.
